This is macabre! Now, you all know that I’m no fan of George Bush but a movie realistically depicting his assassination is going too far. Even if you don’t respect the man you should respect the office. His parents, wife, children and friends should not have to know that people are watching him be shot even if it’s just fiction.

You know when all is said and done this is just a movie, an expression of art, one group of peoples attempt at conveying meaning. So why all the fuss? If the conservative Christian groups are correct that main stream America will hate this movie why are they making such a big deal out of it? If they don’t like the theme of this or any other piece of art they should not see it! I'm OK with that, I think that every adult should determine for themselves what art they like and want to see and then see it or not. I’m not gay and I am secure in both my sexual orientation and my gender identity so this movie does not bother me. I wonder if the people in the Christian organizations are threaten by this movie because they feel that they may be tempted by the love depicted in it.

Maybe if the Christians would remember “Judge not lest you be judged” and that freedom of choice is at the very heart of the Christian faith they would stop trying to impose their version of what is “right” on everyone else.

Just one question before I go, does anyone else find it strange that the director of Concerned Women for America's Culture and Family Institute is named Robert Knight, do we have a gender issue here? Does Bob want to be one of the girls?

If you read my profile you'll see that I manage a band called Bullfrog. Its just a bunch of guys my age that formed a band about six years ago and play in the little bars and clubs in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. I am the bands Manager, Roadie, Security and Photographer so sort of a general all around front man. We play almost every weekend and put out 60 or 70 pictures per gig. I got to thinking, if I'm going call myself a poet I should put one of my poems here for you to judge if I really am a poet so let me know what you think.

Saturday Night Communion

They gather in smoky little bars,

like parishioners,

they gather after dark to court the devil and to keep the darkness at bay.

Seeking not just alcohol and laughter, but communion within the gathering of spirits

Not the communion of the church, but the communion of the fire and the cave.

Their mingled voices sound almost like prayer

But not a prayer full of thou arts or hollowed be thee names

It’s the prayer of “how the hell are you” and loneliness deferred.

With ritual of old these worshipers take their sacrament with salt and lime.

It’s not the sacrament of the church,

although it is very much a sacrament of flesh and blood;

it is not the sacrament of bread and wine.

It’s the kinetics of the crowd and the comfort of the dance,

the insistent motion of bodies briefly touching, the brushing of another soul

while their hearts beat in counter point to a rock and roll rhythm

and not the stand, kneel, and sit of the church or the stately sound of organ and hymn that comfort these wary souls.

The flickering NFL fire shines from the month of the techno-cave to drive away evil spirits but, its Packers not saints that engender the hallelujahs here.

And when, at last the drummer reverently raps out the cadence to the dark sacred night

and the singer closes his eyes and starts to testify,

sanctified by the steel on steel voice of a slide guitar,

man, you know it’s holy,

and you know it’s another Saturday night communion coming down.
